Asus Router 5ghz Stopped Working

The Mysterious Disappearing 5GHz Channel

ASUS and Netgear Routers

A Fix for the Missing 5GHz Band

Attention, fellow network enthusiasts! Many users have reported an enigmatic issue with their ASUS and Netgear routers: the 5GHz channel seems to vanish from the list of available networks. Don't despair, as we have uncovered a solution to restore your high-speed connectivity.

The culprit behind this disappearing act lies in the use of Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) channels. DFS is a technology that allows routers to automatically switch to channels that are less congested, reducing interference. However, some devices, including older wireless adapters, may have difficulty connecting to DFS channels.

To resolve this issue, it is recommended to manually assign your router's 5GHz WiFi to a non-DFS channel. Here's how:

1. Access your router's settings page by typing its IP address into your browser's address bar. 2. Navigate to the "Wireless" or "WiFi" settings section. 3. Locate the "Channel" setting for the 5GHz band. 4. Select a non-DFS channel from the dropdown list (typically channels 36-48 or 149-161).

Once you have assigned a non-DFS channel, save the changes and reboot your router. Your 5GHz band should now be visible and accessible to all devices.
