Roberto De Zerbi: Italian Football Coach and Former Player

Early Life and Career

Roberto De Zerbi was born on June 6, 1979, in Brescia, Italy. He began his playing career in the youth academy of AC Milan, where he spent seven years. In 2002, he made his professional debut for Foggia in Serie C2. Over the course of his career, he played for several Italian clubs, including AC Milan, Parma, and Napoli, before retiring in 2013 due to a knee injury.

Coaching Career

De Zerbi began his coaching career in 2013 as the youth coach of Foggia. In 2014, he was appointed head coach of Salernitana in Serie B. He led the team to promotion to Serie A in 2015, becoming the youngest coach to achieve this feat. In 2016, he joined Sassuolo in Serie A, where he coached for three seasons before departing in 2019.

Brighton Hove Albion

In September 2022, De Zerbi was appointed head coach of Premier League club Brighton Hove Albion. He replaced Graham Potter, who had left for Chelsea. De Zerbi signed a four-year contract with Brighton. He has been praised for his attacking and possession-based style of play during his tenure at the club.

Personal Life

De Zerbi is married and has three children. He is a practicing Catholic. He is also a supporter of AC Milan and the Italian national team.
