Eid Al Adha 2023 Dubai

UAE Announces Eid Al Adha Holidays for Public Sector Employees

Holidays to Begin on June 29th, 2023

Crescent Moon Sighting to Determine Start of Celebrations

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially announced the Eid Al Adha holidays for federal government employees, with the celebrations set to commence on Thursday, June 29th, 2023. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has declared that the holidays will extend until Monday, July 3rd, 2023, providing residents with a total of five days off work.

The exact start date of Eid Al Adha, an Islamic holiday marking the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, is dependent on the sighting of the crescent moon. Most Islamic nations will attempt to sight the crescent moon of Dhu Al Hijja on Sunday, June 18th, 2023. If successful, Eid Al Adha would then officially begin on Monday, June 19th, 2023. However, the sighting of the moon can vary depending on geographical factors, so the final decision on the start date of the holiday will be made closer to the time.
