Jerry West: A Basketball Icon Passes Away

Legendary NBA Executive and Hall of Famer Succumbs at 86

Jerry West's Legacy Extends Far Beyond His Playing Days

The basketball world is mourning the loss of one of its greatest legends, Jerry West. The Hall of Fame player and executive, who played a pivotal role in shaping the Golden State Warriors into a dynasty, passed away at the age of 86.

In his tenure as the Warriors' general manager, West left an indelible mark on the franchise. His vision for the team's future, including freeing up Stephen Curry and drafting Klay Thompson, laid the foundation for their three NBA championships in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

West's influence extended far beyond the Warriors. Prior to joining the team, he helped lead the Los Angeles Lakers to six NBA titles as a player and an executive. In total, he participated in 21 NBA Finals, hoisting eight championship trophies, one as a player and seven as a general manager.
